“One Billion Gardens Rising“ is about keeping carbon in the soil, giving wildlife a home, and bringing our food consumption to a local level as some of the most impactful ways to combat the climate crisis. Womxn and the health and wealth of womxn around the world are central to any conversation regarding the future of humanity. The celebration and liberation of the two are intrinsically linked if we are to live in a healthy and holistic planet. To see one billion women rise, and alongside them a billion gardens bloom, will be a true solutionary act of our time. In this piece, I bridge the two against a starry sky to remind us of our interdependent existence; we are interwoven within all.

5% of profit is donated to One Billion Rising. OBR is a global campaign to end rape and sexual violence against women. It was started in 2012 as part of the V-Day movement. The "billion" refers to the UN statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime, or about one billion
