A Course on the Imaginal: Cultivating the Visionary Self is a three-month online course designed and facilitated by Alixa García. As we move through this liminal space of the “no-longer-world” and the “not-yet-worlds-to-come,” this course is an offering for fellow journeyers as we move through the underworld of this time. Through deep creative practices, nature-based rituals, grief as ceremony, an invitation to fail, and a dive into what I am developing as Creativity-Infused Somatic practices, we will enter into the unknown, sit with uncertainty, and chant within the enchantment of these times to cultivate the visionary within.
IN-DEPTH DESCRIPTION
We have a crisis of imagination which results in a crisis of visionary thinking. We know as a species that we need something radically different, yet so many of us feel the pain of not being able to live in a world that honors our spiritual expression in this human form. A big part of that pain comes from not being able to be the artist within because we don’t have examples, spaces, and permission to greet and get to know our visionary selves.
In nature, we find the ultimate creative force: her powerful teachings serve our unfolding towards something beyond the catastrophic urgencies of the now. When we work with our bodies through a Creativity-Infused Somatic practice that centers the Earth and brings to focus our cosmic existence, we begin to reweave the torn threads between self, each other, and our only home. This sacred space is what I call the Imaginal Expanse.
Throughout our six weeks together, we will free up that space inside each of us through a deep and diverse exploration of creative practices rooted in the personal, systemic, and spiritual realms.
This course explores enchantment during times of breakage; centralizes visual art, music, creative writing as political and spiritual practices; ritual and altar making; and is imbued with somatic and meditative exercises for visiting ancestral, present, and future selves.
When we not only give permission, but encourage, the wild dance of intuition with the artist within, the imaginal self becomes part of the visionary collective. You are invited.
