A COURSE ON THE IMAGINAL
Cultivating the Visionary Self
Jan, 10 2026 - May 31 2026
A Course on the Imaginal: Cultivating the Visionary Self is a pedagogy of interiority.
On this journey, we center our living wholeness. We work with decolonial and creative somatics to bring bodily awareness to our imagination praxis. Here, we focus the attentional system and fortify the autonomic nervous system to help heal the mind/body split imposed by colonial modernity. We activate wakeful dreaming and use creative tools to do the vital work of bodily, energetic, ancestral, and future generational tending needed for these times.
On this journey, we begin with the body. Our body is the first territory we can liberate. For most of us, our body is the only territory in which we have complete sovereignty. We cannot get entirely out of the systems of oppression that minimize life, but we can expel them from the body.
By working consciously and creatively with this first sacred territory, we begin to disidentify from the inherited colonial language that has captured our thoughts and imagination. By having a robust imagination practice that is rooted in bodily awareness we can open new liberatory pathways for the self and the collective.
A regulated body connected to imagination is more likely to bring forth a new vision. A regulated body can also readily co-regulate with others. Once we are capable of co-regulation, we can begin to TerraRegulate. A term I’ve developed to speak to the crucial and urgent work of co-regulating with the Earth.
As we move into the heart of the 6th mass extinction, how do we re-enter the ceremony of life and awaken the Imaginal within? What is the role of imagination in times of collapse? How do we learn to fall together without falling apart?
On this journey, we explore and exercise our creative muscle and find in nature the ultimate creative force as her powerful teachings serve our awakening. When we encounter and encourage the wild dance of the artist within, the creative self becomes part of the visionary collective.
You're invited to sit with us in circles of wonder as we embark on this 5.5-month journey into embodied wisdom, creative practice, and beloved community.
Creativity is the antidote to destruction; when we create with intention, our creations become the invocation, and the space inside and between us, the sanctuary.

Deepen the Journey: In-Person Retreat in Peru (June)
After completing the online course, participants are invited to continue the work in person amidst the sacred landscapes of Peru. Together, we will get closer to the Earth, ourselves, and each other through high Andean Ceremonies led by Claudia Cuentas, and deepen our somatic and creative practice guided by Alixa García.
This optional retreat is available exclusively to course participants at an additional cost.
Come root the teachings in the land, the body, and the spirit that holds us.
“After decades of doing anti-racist work, Alixa’s course showed me how to enter entirely new creative, imaginal dimensions of self, community, and spirit. This was one of the most beautiful, moving, collective and individual journeys I have ever been on.”

IMPORTANT PARTICIPATION DETAILS
Please be 100% available to participate when attending the sessions. Make sure to have a private space for your process. We ask that you be on camera as much as possible as the next-best alternative to not being in the room; this will help us to feel each others’ presence and deepen.
The sessions will not be recorded to ensure full authenticity without the fear of being frozen in time.
The course centers on Creative Somatics through a decolonial framework, so please be ready to engage your body and your inner creator. There will be options accessible for people of different abilities.
Processing and integration happen between the main sessions on an individual and group level. For this reason, all participants will have access to a Creative Path, a Ritual Path, and a Breath and Mindfulness Path. The Paths rotate every six weeks so that participants have the opportunity to walk all three Paths during the 5.5-month journey.
The Paths offer Expansions (or practices) that can be done as a solo journeyer or in a small Pod between the main sessions, deepening and expanding your journey. These are invitations. You only need to participate in a Path or a Pod if you wish to, though we highly encourage it.
Pods meet once between sessions. The participants of each Pod will determine when and how long they meet.
This course will run from January 24 - May 31, 2026, with classes taking place from 9 am - 12:30 pm (Pacific Time) see full schedule. Classes will be held via Zoom. The sessions will be experiential, requiring a live presence, and will not be recorded.
Limited space. 28 seats available.

SCHEDULE
Sessions are LIVE. No Recordings.
COAXING THE ARTIST WITHIN | JAN 24 (Saturday)
In this first session, we create our container for the journey ahead. We explore our whys and set intentions, begin to meet one another and develop a shared language, introduce the Trickster, explore and familiarize ourselves with the digital tools we will use throughout the course, and dive into our first Creative Somatic practice: Coaxing the Artist Within.
MAKING A HOME FOR INTUITION | JAN 25 (Sunday)
With our intuition, we can sense our way through any darkness. As we enter the 6th mass extinction, growing an intimate relationship with our intuitive body becomes a powerful and essential practice in troubling times.
In this session, we activate the Soma, our living wholeness. We will engage in a multi-step somatic practice to bring greater sensitivity to our entire being and, through this process, identify the home of our intuition. By identifying where our intuition is rooted, we can more readily access it, thereby deepening our trust in it. By working with our non-dominant self, we invite a quieter wisdom to speak through us. We will leave with tools for self-regulation and an expanded capacity for nuance.
SOUL COMMITMENTS | FEB 8 (Saturday)
What is your soul commitment in times of collapse? In this session, we activate the body through Creative Somatic practices that awaken our multidimensionality. From here, we unearth, fine-tune, and root our soul commitment within the activated Soma. This session serves to quiet the racing mind, tap into the sensing body, and activate the energetic body, offering powerful insights and a way to fortify one's inner constitution in troubling times.
THE WOUND IS THE PORTAL | FEB 22 (Sunday)
In this session, I offer a lecture on the connection between the heart, body, and mind through the complementary study of neuroplasticity, epigenetics, the autonomic nervous system, and the subconscious and conscious states, to better understand the science of trauma and the power of bodily, creative, and awareness-centered healing modalities. We will learn a powerful somatic emotional release practice to ground the lecture.
GRIEF AS CEREMONY | MAR 8 (Sunday)
In the words of Robin Wall Kimmerer, “Ceremony focuses attention so that attention becomes intention.” In this session, we will create a communal ceremony where grief has a place of tenderness, allowing it to land and transmute. Though each person’s journey will be an individual and safe undertaking, the collective element of moving through the process together weaves a broader net. We will move through experiential, creative, and somatic practices to arrive there.
ANCESTRAL TENDING I | MAR 15 (Sunday) 4-HOUR SESSION
This session is a ritual of connection and tending to our ancestral lineages through a series of somatic and attention-intensive practices that help strengthen those bonds while reclaiming our sovereign relationship with those who came before us. Through a guided creative, somatic, and ceremonial process, we will make hand-dyed papers for our altar item.
ANCESTRAL TENDING II | MAR 22 (Sunday) 4-HOURS SESSION
What is the healing story that wants to come through you? What future ancestor will you be? Through Creative Somatics and attention-intensive practices, creative writing, and individual and collective processes, we will answer these questions for ourselves and begin the work of becoming good future ancestors, while we are still alive.
SPIRIT TENDING | APR 12 (Sunday)
When was the last time you had an intentional full-body conversation with the part of you that connects to all livingness and listened? In this session, you will commune with your spirit self. We will work with Solfeggio frequencies and engage in a series of experiential, creative, and embodied exercises to initiate the process of creating a visual map of this subtle and potent conversation.
SPIRIT TENDING II | APR 19 (Sunday, one week later)
The universe is full of secrets. This session is dedicated to peering into the unknown. It is a meeting with the deeper parts of ourselves that require our slow movement, our non-dominance, our curiosity, and open-faced inquiry to begin to unearth what is calling below the surface of a fast-paced world. In this session, we will utilize internal and external gaze practices, the power of sacred geometry, and visual art to explore the indwelling of our spirit-self.
THE ROLE OF ENCHANTMENT IN TIME OF COLLAPSE | MAY 3 (Sunday, one week later)
To create room for enchantment and wonder in our lives during times of collapse is to honor the ecstatic mystery that brought us here despite and because of the cessation all around us; it is a conscious return to beauty beyond our calculations. Through somatic and attention-intensive practices, artistic creation, group work, and a water and fire ritual, we will explore our offering for the world.
VISIONARY FUTURES I MAY 17 (Sunday)
From the spirit realm to the world, in this session, we will use Visionary Fiction as a political practice and visionary rehearsal. Visionary fiction explicitly intends to envision a world beyond the current one, challenge mainstream power dynamics and dreams of new, just worlds. There is power in rewriting our histories to reclaim our futures. There is also power in writing our futures to manifest the realities we want to walk into.
Through collective Visionary Fiction plot creations, we will begin to rewrite dominant narratives and see what other worlds might be behind the cracks of a breaking world.
VISIONARY FUTURES II | MAY 30 (Saturday, closing weekend)
Within every human, only 5% is a conscious expression, while 95% of us is a subconscious expression. In this session, we will move through a multistep process that will unearth subconscious undesired belief systems and thought patterns that no longer serve us, and through creative somatics, applied kinesiology, and the use of solfeggio and binaural beat frequencies we will identify and create affirmations that counter those limiting beliefs and thoughts so that our inner being begins to match the conscious self we desire.
THE UNFOLDING | MAY 31 (Sunday, closing weekend )
We will collectively close the portal we opened months before through a ceremony of remembrance. In this final session, we will harvest inspirational insights, bodily learnings, soulful commitments, and visionary applications. We will revisit our intentions and creations and see how far we have come. Through an experiential process, we will witness and be witnessed as fellow journeyers of the Imaginal Expanse.
